Organizations I like

  1. Congregation Shir Shalom: This is our synagogue. I am the president of the Men’s Group and am on the board. It is the first combination Reform/Reconstructionist synagogue anywhere.

  1. The Schoerke Foundation: This foundation supports education in Africa, mainly through the Heritage Academy in Ghana. The school was founded by our friend Kwesi Koomson. Founded in 2004 with 32 students, it has grown to 1400 students! Looking for a charity where your donation will make a big difference? Less than $100 will fund a student at the school for a whole year (including lunch!). Go for it! HERE.

  1. The Holocaust Research Center of Buffalo: The HRC provides education about the Holocaust to the western New York community, including providing speakers to schools and other groups. They sponsor, among other things, the annual Yom Hashoah commemoration in Buffalo.

  1. The Jewish Genealogical Society of Buffalo: The JGSB is a group of local people interested in Jewish Genealogy. We have a lot of resources and are able to help people get started on their family research. We also have access to historical information about the Buffalo Jewish community. I designed the website for them!

  1. The Buffalo Guitar Society. The Buffalo Guitar Society (BGS) focuses on classical guitar and puts on concerts and every year or two the Rantucci Guitar Festival. I’ve been treasurer of the BGS for many years.
